BC Cancer researchers receive Cancer Research Society’s Doctoral Research Awards
Three BC Cancer graduate students are 2024 recipients of Doctoral Research Awards from the Cancer Research Society (CRS), receiving new funding to support their innovative research aimed at better understanding cancer.

Doctoral Research Awards invests in the future of cancer research through the support of graduate students pursuing cancer research at an eligible Canadian institution.
2024 BC Cancer recipients:
- Meredith Clark was awarded funding for the project titled, “Repurposing the angiotensin II receptor blocker Telmisartan to promote anti-tumour immune responses.”
- Yilin Liu was awarded funding for the project titled, “Uncovering the role of the CCR4-NOT transcription complex subunit 4 (CNOT4) in the pathogenesis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).”
- Sarah McPhedran was awarded funding for the project titled, “Uncovering novel metabolic regulators of T cell function.”

This Doctoral Research Awards program is one of three annual CRS grant programs designed to support researchers at every stage of their careers. These initiatives are aimed at funding research projects that contribute to our understanding of all types of cancer, so that we can better prevent, detect and treat them.
