Patients and their caregivers value research to develop new drugs and treatments with the hopes of a cure for cancer, but they also value innovations that make their interaction with the healthcare system and providers better across the cancer trajectory. Nursing and allied health research is not always able to access traditional funding opportunities, yet it holds the potential to significantly impact our cancer care system and support establishing a centre of excellence for nursing and allied health research trainees.
The Nursing and Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation department works in close partnership with internal and external funding organizations to identify and pursue new funding opportunities annually for nursing and allied health research and Knowledge Mobilization activities.
Current funding competitions administered by the Nursing and Allied Health research and Knowledge Translation department include:.
- BC Cancer Nursing and Allied Health Research Grant Competition
- Canadian Nurses Association Certification Award Competition
External funding opportunities are also available for nursing and allied health clinicians through the following organizations:
- Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO/ACIO) Research Grants
- Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR)
- Canadian Cancer Society (CCS)
- Michael Health Research BC (MSHRBC)
- Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI)
